Cozumel 2007

I know it is about time I put some pictures from Cozumel on here. We had a blast. The show is a little lengthy and has some cheesy music, but I chose what they had online. Oh well, hope you enjoy.

Weekend Woes

Well their is still water in the house! The water that came up in the living room seems to actually be worse at this moment. We have put towels on it all weekend and kept fans on it and it is still saturated. We took a video of it on Thursday, but I am thinking that we need to do it again tonight to show how long the water has stayed. Honestly, we can not figure out where it is coming from. The attic shows no sign of water and the walls are dry! The only thing we can think of now is that it is a slab issue. I think that Carlton and I will pull the carpet back this evening to see if we can tell anything ourselves. I did call the insurance company, but have not heard from them as of yet. I just left a message with the adjuster for this area a little bit ago.

On another note.......please be in prayer for my parents. My mother made the decision to leave my father this weekend. Actually the decision had been made a while back, but she followed through with it this weekend. I know she is doing what is best for her. Pray that she finds peace. This was a really hard thing for her to do, but she asked my father if he would give up the drugs and he told her he couldn't! Pray for him!

Damage Update

Well.....late this afternoon I was in the living room and the kids were playing "dress up". Timothy had on his Spiderman suit and Rachel had put on one of Timothy's cowboy outfits. So I decided to take a couple pictures..(I'll post them tomorrow) when I noticed that I had stepped in water! All along the wall that backs up to our kitchen there was water and not just a little damp either...but "squishy" wet...the water was coming up between my toes. Now we are really puzzled!!! This problem was originally just in the front of the house, and now it is in the back/middle of the house! UGHHHHH!!!!! Now we are even more confused about it all than we were before.

Please keep praying.....I put in a call to our insurance agent to get her opinion, but tomorrow I WILL be calling the insurance company.

Hurricane Humberto

Well, well, well..........that little tropical storm turned into a HURRICANE, can you believe that!!!!! I could not sleep at all last night. Our electricity went out around 3:30 or 4 this morning. I got up and walked around the house around 4:15. I couldn't see much because it was so dark, but I could see the reflection from the water in the study and the entry. Seeing that I KNEW there had to be water in Timothy's room. So after I watched the trees blow in the front and the back for a couple of minutes I decided to check on the obvious. Walking to his room I noticed that the water had come down the hall from his room! I continued on to his room to find that the floor was not just damp but soaked!!!!!! This moring, upon further investigation, I found that his entire floor was wet, some of that hall was wet and so was the floor in the hall closet.

Just pray we find the source of entry for all this water.

Patience

Be patient with me...I am testing out new templates. It may change a lot in the next couple of days until I figure out what I want.

Rain Rain Go Away

I know this is lengthy but please read.....we need your prayer!!

For the past few months we have had a flooding issue in our house. While Carlton and I were in Cozumel this summer, my mother and a friend came to the house to watch the kids. During that week there was a lot of rain and they noticed that the floor in Timothy's closet was a little wet. You see, I had told Carlton a way back that I thought that closet floor was wet, but when he checked it was a little damp and he blamed the kids for pouring water on the floor (They had done this before with the Aquadoodle pen!) But even before then, not long after we got in the house, I told him that the floor around the closet smelled a little "musty", but he didn't think it did.

ANYWAY, not long after our trip it rained really hard. After that rain I was in Timothy's room and noticed the floor in and around the closet was wet. I called Timothy in and we pulled ALL the toys out from the bottom of his closet. In doing so, I noticed mildew/mold all along the base boards. I called around and was advised to move Timothy out of the room until I was able to get it all cleaned up. SO....we set up an air mattress in Rachel's room and he camped out there for a while.

I pulled back the carpet and there was a ton of black powdery mold all along the tack strips for the carpet. Since there was no way that I would be able to get all of it cleaned off those strips, I got myself some tools and ripped them up! After doing that I tore out the padding for the carpet as well. (Once again under the advisement of some professionals.) Then I pulled that carpet back till it was out of the closet. I sprayed all that mold and the concrete with a 10:1 bleach solution like the professionals told me to do.

THEN another rain came, the closet floor was flooded and now not only was his closet floor wet, but so was the rest of the floor about a foot or so from the closet all the way down to his bedroom door along baseboard. UGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

We were told that our flower beds were to high. So I called around and had some people come give us estimates on some kind of drainage system for the flower beds and/or estimates to totally rework the beds, lowering them so there wouldn't be this problem. The lowest bit was around $25oo. So taking that into consideration, Carlton elicited the help of a student or two and started the work himself. The ripped everything out and then spent a couple of days hauling dirt away until the ground was almost 2 feet below the slab!!!! BUT......when the rain came back......there was still flooding!!!!!!!

UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After calling MANY people we finally called our insurance company and asked them to send soemone out. We knew after talking to several people that our insurance would not cover this kind of "water issue" and neither does our American Homesheild Warranty (That little bit of extra insurance you can purchace at the closing of a house that covers "some" things for the first year of ownership") But we called them anyway to see if they could help us figure out where the water was coming in from. He told Carlton the only thing he could see was that there was a piece of flashing on the roof that should have been larger. Once he showed it to us, we could see how the water would be getting in there. So we called a roofing company, they came out, fixed the flashing and BAM......it was done. SO WE THOUGHT!!!!!!

Last night and this morning was the first BIG rain since that day. I walked into Timothy's room and noticed the concrete in his closet was wet! (The carpet was still pulled back because Carlton wanted to hold off fixing all that until a day such as this came and went.) Well, it came. Either the flashing is still not fixed, or the problem lies somewhere else! UGHHHH!!!!

Please pray for us. We are exhausted with this problem. The roofer that fixed it the first time is out of town until the week of the 16th. I just called and left him a message. I don't know what to do from this point on except pray!

Have any ideas????

Beauty Distorted

I came across the video below today on an old acquaintance's blog. We all see these supermodels and think that they are perfect and flawless, but even Tyra Banks will tell you that NO WOMAN comes with out at least a little cellulite! She even showed it to us on Oprah! Anyway, I just thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

Check it out:

Who is the Daddy...God or Jesus?

Last night after I prayed with Timothy, he asked me.....

"Mommy, who is the Daddy, God or Jesus?"

I told him, "Well, Timothy, Jesus is God's son so that makes God the Daddy?"

T - "I see...who made our house...God or Jesus?"

I told him, " Well, God made the people and the people made our house."

T - "Ok...(I could see wheels turning)....how did God make the people?"

I told him, "Well, Timothy, to be honest, I don't know. God can do all things and sometimes He does things that we can not understand. The bible says that he knit us together in our mommy's tummies."

T - "I know how He did it."

(Me holding my breath) "Really, how did he do it then?"

T - "Well, first he put all our bones together, then he glued our skin on!"

Wow, the mind of a 4 year old (to be 5 in October)!!!!!!

It's Been A While

I know it has been a while!!! And I wanted to use this time to play "catch up", however it took so long to load all these pictures that I can't do that right now! The pictures are a little out of order. I meant to put Rachel in Timothy's police uniform before all the others to kind of keep them in some kind of order........but oh well........

To start off with, Rachel was not happy that she couldn't go in the game but I was able to get a smile out of her eventually (well kind of...her mouth was full of grapes)! She and her baby were so hot.

This was Timothy's first soccer game. He did pretty good. Carlton is going to work with him a little this week on running and kicking the ball.

School is in session! (well almost!)

Hey Friends and Family,

It has been a long, but nice summer. I am so excited to be back online though! We actually got a new computer and internet at home, but for now it is dial up and for those of you who actually remember the dial up days...it stinks! Carlton says that if AT&T can't reroute our service then we will look into something else. I will put some pictures from our vacation and some random pics of the kiddos tomorrow. I just got the computer in my classroom up and running today! WOOOHOOO!!!!!

More later,
