WOW!!! $100 Jewelry Giveaway!!

I just went to Lisa's and she had a post about this giveaway over at Rachael's. I can't get over the cuteness of this stuff! The picture above is my absolute FAVORITE of the bunch.

Many nights a week Rachel asks me, "Mommy, how much do you love me?" And I tell her, "I love you to the moon and back, to the moon and back, to the moon and back and back and back and back. How much do you love me?" and she says the same thing back to me.

Go check out the giveaway and while you are at it, check out her ETSY shop too.

A Couple of Must Reads!!

Ok, I don't have much time to post today, but I will take time later to respond to both of these blog posts.

The first one is over at Angel's place...it is the Dangerous Surrender Chapter Two post! You must read it! There is so much I want to share about that post, but it will have to wait a day or two. I just don't have the time to type it all up in one sitting.

Then next one is over at Rachel Anne's.....it is titled The Goodest Mom. Go read it! (Am I sounding a little pushy?? Oh well!!

On another note...I am feeling much better. I still haven't heard from the doctor's office yet about the scheduling with the Allergist/Immunologist, but I am sure I will soon. And for Rachel, tomorrow is her speech/language evaluation with the school district. Please pray for her in the morning.

Thanks to you all!

Self Defense

I may have mentioned to you all that I was going to a girls conference this weekend. I will post about the conference itself later today or in the morning. For now though I wanted to talk about some basic self defense things that were mentioned at the conference that have been on my mind.

During one of the sessions they talked about "Things every girl needs to know" and one of those things included some basic self defense techniques. Some of them you may already be exercising, but I am going to share them with you just in case you are not.

1. Always walk in the middle of the road between the isles of the parking lot. What I mean is, don't walk right up next to the cars. It only takes someone about 2 seconds to step out, muffle you mouth and throw you into a car if they want you bad enough. If you walk in the middle of the isle, then they are less likely to come after you for fear of someone grabbing you.

2. Always carry your keys so that a key or two are poking out from between your fingers. This gives you your own little weapon.

3. When fighting back, don't go directly for the gut. Go for the face! Attack any exposed skin you can find. When you think about it, if you go for the gut, or the mid section, then you have layers of clothing to get through. If you go for the face, you can cause some pretty good harm pretty quick!

4. Carry some kind of personal defense spray. I found some online here Blackhawk Gear . Along with many other items that could be used. Those of you with hubbies in the military or in the police force should check out that site. It has some pretty good discounts on items they could really use! I may go to that site to get Carlton some more Under Armour.

They also mentioned some other techniques, but that would require me making a video and posting it here, but I am not to that point in my blogging capabilities yet. (Hopefully soon!)

Anyway, hope you learned something new, and hope you find something at the site that will help you!

New Sites for Me!

Click here to create your own painting.

The picture above was created using a personality test of sorts. Go check it out. It's just for fun.

Also, there are some new buttons on my side bar. I added them today after surfing around some. There are also some new links on my list of blogs.

One of them is In Their Own Time. Another is Mocha With Linda I met her through Lisa at The Preacher's Wife of which yesterday was her 1 year Blogiversary! Another is Sue at Praise and Coffee she is responsible for both of my new buttons on the side..."Two Shall Become One Tuesdays" and "Praise and Coffee Monthly Giveaways". Natalie at Married to the Preacher, and her SIL The Crazy Kid Teacher are pretty new to blogging and been on the side bar for a few weeks now.

Go check them out!

This is my new best friend! I LOVE this stuff.......I know many of you probably already know the "healing power" of body butter, but me and my cheap self have just discovered it! I have suffered so much from dry skin for YEARS and recently my hands have gotten terrible, and my feet........the hubby has been known to describe as "caveman feet". (I know......how dare him!)

Anyway, a friend told me that I needed to get something with Vaseline in it or some body butter. Then I went to Walmart and saw both things in one. SO I "splurged" and got this. I will never buy regular lotions again. Body butter is the way for me! This one is unscented and that usually means it stinks, and although it doesn't "stink", it doesn't smell that great either. So I will be looking for some better smelling stuff the next time!

New Website (for me anyway)

OK....I have stumbled across a new site. It is Organize It Mom. It has some really cool stuff for mom’s and kids when it comes to organizing your time, kids chores and even fun time with the kids. I am trying to get things a little more organized myself, so I am really liking this for myself when it comes to grocery shopping, and for Rachel I am thinking about this and for Timothy possibly this. Check the site out. The prices are great and the personally I think the items are “fun” and will motivate your kids.

For those of you who no longer have young children, it could be great to use with grandkids when they visit, to give to your daughter/son to use with the kids at home, or it could even be used in some of your classrooms. I would have used this stuff if I were still in my Life Skills classroom. It would be great with some of our Autistic kiddos too.

If you choose to order from her site, just mention my name in the comments. I am hosting a "Virtual Party" between now and December 11th and will get some kind of credit if you mention my name in your comments. The only downside to ordering yourself online is that you may have to pay shipping. But in my opininion the prices are great, so a little shipping wouldn't be too bad!

Mom of a girl???

I was checking the pages of a few people who recently left comments on my blog and came across this one over a Ima on (and off) the Bima! Check it out. It is an awesome video showing a glimpse of what we see in the media. How sad! Thank you Phyllis for sharing this.

Custom Silhouettes

If you haven't been to the Bloggy Giveaways site lately, you should go. There are a ton of great things you can sign up for and this is one of them. Head over to Simply Silhouettes browse around then go back to Bloggy Giveaways and enter you name in a drawing to win a 8" x 10" gallery wrapped custom silhouette canvas (that's an $80 retail value).

You know you had these made when you were a child in class and your parents/grandparents loved them. Prices are a little high for me right now, but they have some pretty neat stuff. I particularly like the canvases found in the room decor section. Go check it out!

The Blessing of Pain

WOW...today I was reading some articles that are posted on Pricilla Shirer's website and one was titled "The Blessing of Pain". I have recently added her site to the "places I visit" spot on the sidebar, but I will post a direct link to that particular article so that you can get to it faster. All I can say is that after reading that article I now feel blessed to feel pain!
